Berens River Adventure
Your trip quite literally starts at the end of the road. From there we take you across the height of land that separates the Berens/Albany/English River watershed. As you descend from the top of the Berens River Plateau you are on one of the prettiest rivers we have the privilege of paddling. Spectacular rapids and falls are created as the river pours through narrow openings in the shield, leaving you in awe as the river thunders ever downstream to finally drain into Lake Winnipeg.
Skill Level Required – novice/intermediate – flat-water/white-water

Berens Lake to Family Lake
This trip quite literally starts at the end of the road. After a 2-hour ride north of Red Lake, we put in at Berens Landing to paddle one of the most threatened rivers in all of Ontario. Logging is scheduled to start around the head waters of this river in the not to distant future, so if you want to be able to say that you paddled this river while it was still in it’s pristine state, you should consider doing this trip within the next two years. The Berens River as it flows through the Canadian Shield, is one of the prettiest rivers we have the privilege of paddling. Spectacular rapids and falls are created as the river pours through narrow openings in the shield, leaving you in awe as river thunders ever downstream to finally drain into Lake Winnipeg. We pass by several native settlements as we paddle through their territory. Your adventure can end on Family Lake where we return to Red Lake on a floatplane, or take the skills you learned while on this trip and continue onwards with our Pigeon River trip. Either way the Berens will have provided you with great scenery, great fishing and a bit of history as you traveled one of Ontario’s most spectacular wilderness rivers.
